Frequently Asked Questions
You are required to read the book “Purana Purusha” authored by Mahamahopadhyaya Yogacharya Dr. Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee for basic orientation in Kriyayoga. Additionally, you can also read “Who is this Shyamacharan” written by the same author. For online purchase of book please Click here.
Kriyayoga being a Gurumukhi Vidya initiation is always imparted directly by Gurudeva to the disciple. Therefore the disciple is required to be physically present during the time of initiation. Initiation and subsequently the Kriyayoga techniques that are taught in the Centre are strictly in accordance to what was imparted by Yogiraj Sri Shyamacharan Lahiri Mahasaya in the traditional Guru-Shishya Parampara.
There is no definitive timeline for this. It is completely dependant upon the disciple’s ability to grasp this abstruse science and practice Kriya sincerely abiding by the instructions of the Guru.
It is the same Prana that inheres in the entire creation and Kriyayoga is the worship of this Prana, hence there is no such discrimination. Infact married couples are encouraged to take initiation together although it is not a mandate. However, children below a certain age are not considered for initiation since a certain level of maturity is expected to practise Kriyayoga which is extremely subtle and esoteric in nature.
This has to be discussed and permission sought from Gurudeva Mahamahopadhyaya Yogacharya Dr. Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee or His Guru-Desgnate.
The technique of Kriyayoga cannot be divulged as per the discipline laid down by Yogiraj Sri Shyamacharan Lahiree. It is the same yogasadhana as mentioned in the Patanjala Yogasutras and the The Bhagavad Gita.
Kriyayogasadhana is best practiced within the ambit of household or Grihasthya. Yogiraj Sri Shyamacharan Lahiree and Mahamahopadhyaya Yogacharya Dr. Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee are complete householders. The Centre upholds this ideal and strongly discourages external renunciation.
Mahamahopadhyaya Yogacharya Dr. Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee founded the Centres with the objective of upholding the ideals and tenets of Yogiraj Sri Shyamacharan Lahiree; the Fountain-Head of Kriyayoga and bringing forth to society the original Kriyayoga as taught by Him. At this yuga juncture, the Centres will help usher mankind into the new era of Satyayuga. Please read “Who is this Shyamacharan” to know more about this.
