How can I receive initiation into Kriyayoga?
Initiation in Kriyayoga is held on a periodic basis, initiation is also held in other parts of India and Bangladesh. Kriyayoga is a Gurumukhi Vidya and initiation happens in the traditional manner. Prior consent of Gurudeva is a must before initiation into Kriyayoga. Aspirants can contact us for further details.
Is any prior knowledge or practice of yogasadhana essential for initiation into Kriyayoga?
You are required to read the book “Purana Purusha” authored by Mahamahopadhyaya Yogacharya Dr. Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee for basic orientation in Kriyayoga. Additionally, you can also read “Who is this Shyamacharan” written by the same author. For online purchase of book please Click here.
How can I buy books on Kriyayoga from your Centre?
The books are available online. Please visit Online Bookstore for more details. Books are also available at all the centres of the Mission in India and select book stores across India.
I do not stay close to where your centres are situated. If I come for initiation, will the Centre make arrangements for my/our stay?
Presently, we do not provide accommodation facility during initiation in any of our centres. If you find difficulty in making arrangements, pls get in touch with us. Depending upon the venue, our organizers will be able to provide relevant information to you. Please click here to contact us.
Are there any pre-requisites for initiation into Kriyayoga?
Apart from reading the book “Purana Purusha” the consent of Gurudeva Mahamahopadhyaya Yogacharya Dr. Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee or His Guru-Desgnate is a must. Being an esoteric science, Kriyayoga cannot be practised in the open. Hence arrangement has to be made for a separate room for the practice of Kriya, although the room need not be dedicated to Kriya alone and during non-practising hours can be utilized for other purposes also. For further information please contact us.
Does the Mission offer distant courses in Kriyayoga?
Kriyayoga being a Gurumukhi Vidya initiation is always imparted directly by Gurudeva to the disciple. Therefore the disciple is required to be physically present during the time of initiation. Initiation and subsequently the Kriyayoga techniques that are taught in the Centre are strictly in accordance to what was imparted by Yogiraj Sri Shyamacharan Lahiri Mahasaya in the traditional Guru-Shishya Parampara.
How much time does it take to complete this course?
There is no definitive timeline for this. It is completely dependant upon the disciple’s ability to grasp this abstruse science and practice Kriya sincerely abiding by the instructions of the Guru.
Can women and children receive initiation in Kriyayoga?
It is the same Prana that inheres in the entire creation and Kriyayoga is the worship of this Prana, hence there is no such discrimination. Infact married couples are encouraged to take initiation together although it is not a mandate. However, children below a certain age are not considered for initiation since a certain level of maturity is expected to practise Kriyayoga which is extremely subtle and esoteric in nature.
I have already been initiated into Kriyayoga elsewhere. Can I receive initiation into advanced Kriyayoga from your Mission?
This has to be discussed and permission sought from Gurudeva Mahamahopadhyaya Yogacharya Dr. Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee or His Guru-Desgnate.
What kind of initiation is this? Do you provide any “mantra japa” during initiation?
The technique of Kriyayoga cannot be divulged as per the discipline laid down by Yogiraj Sri Shyamacharan Lahiri. It is the same yogasadhana as mentioned in the Patanjali Yogasutras and the The Bhagavad Gita.
For advanced Kriyayogasadhana is it necessary to renounce the world?
Kriyayogasadhana is best practiced within the ambit of household or Grihasthya. Yogiraj Sri Shyamacharan Lahiri and Mahamahopadhyaya Yogacharya Dr. Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee are complete householders. The Centre upholds this ideal and strongly discourages external renunciation.
