Significance of Ghurni

Ghurni in Bengali literally means that which revolves. Yogic interpretation- Shyamacharan chose to mark His Advent here, in accordance to His Own discipline that when a man is born he enters into the ambit of 1,00,000 vibrations. Therefore in the Mortal Form He assumed, He also was required to do the same. Moreover Ghurni also refers to the continuous rotation of the earth – hence the continuum of the cycle of births and deaths

Significance of Varanasi

Kashi is the original name of Varanasi-Kashi literally infers a holy place – the Land of Vishwanath – the abode of Siva. Yogically it symbolises the static still state. Shyamacharan Lahiree Mahasaya marked His Advent at Ghurni, left this place as a young boy of five to Kashi. This infers that being originally the static still essence He had to revert to His origin in accordance to His discipline. Kashi infers the Kutastha – the place of enlightenment. It is beyond the Ida, Pingala, Sushumna, beyond the Sattva, Raja, Tamas attributes which a practisant yogi eventually has to go beyond. Shyamacharan Lahiree Mahasaya arrived at this state – hence merged with Brahma, causing a cessation to the existence of his Mortal Form thus a cessation of the birth – death cycle. In actuality Lahiree Mahasaya is ‘SAMBHAVAMI YUGE YUGE’ but He executed all these to set an example to mankind.

It has been mentioned in Kashi Khanda (a scripture) that there will never be an earthquake in Kashi. Earthquake is the symbol of utmost dynamism. But earthquakes are prevalent in the town of Kashi.

Then have sastras stated anything wrong? This can never be possible.

Due to a long period of neglect and erroneous teachings man has forgotten what the true abode of Kashi is. The town of Kashi is an allegorical representation.

The true Kashi is Kutastha, which is prevalent in the human body at all times. Reaching here, all types of Prana dynamism attain annihilation. Yogiraj has commented in this regard – “Kashi trisulopari” – Ida Pingala and Sushumna have assembled at Kutastha. Kashi abode is above this Trident, where Prana dynamism ceases after arriving; no type of vibration remains.

All these facts are based on yogasadhana. Man digressing from this immortal yogasadhana has forgotten the true Ayodhya and true Kashi Abode. Practising yogasadhana in this manner, arriving at Anahata Cakra Ayodhya; Atmarama visualization can be attained and arriving at Kutastha Kashi Abode the Static Siva state can be envisioned. Both these states are inherent within a yogi.

Man having deviated from yoga, meddle too much with symbols. The symbol and the reality are not the same. Of course the sastras have expounded the true search amidst these symbols.
