Are there any pre-requisites for initiation into Kriyayoga?
Apart from reading the book “Purana Purusha” the consent of Gurudeva Mahamahopadhyaya Yogacharya Dr. Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee or His Guru-Desgnate is a must. Being an esoteric science, Kriyayoga cannot be practised in the open. Hence arrangement has to be made for a separate room for the practice of Kriya, although the room need not be dedicated to Kriya alone and during non-practising hours can be utilized for other purposes also. I do not stay close to where your centres are situated. If I come for initiation, will the Centre make arrangements for my/our stay?

How can I receive initiation into Kriyayoga?
Initiation in Kriyayoga is held on a periodic basis, initiation is also held in other parts of India and Bangladesh. Kriyayoga is a Gurumukhi Vidya and initiation happens in the traditional manner. Prior consent of Gurudeva is a must before initiation into Kriyayoga. Aspirants can contact us for further details.
Does the Mission offer distant courses in Kriyayoga?
Kriyayoga being a Gurumukhi Vidya initiation is always imparted directly by Gurudeva to the disciple. Therefore the disciple is required to be physically present during the time of initiation. Initiation and subsequently the Kriyayoga techniques that are taught in the Centre are strictly in accordance to what was imparted by Yogiraj Sri Shyamacharan Lahiri Mahasaya in the traditional Guru-Shishya Parampara.
Isn’t it true that Yogiraj Sri Shyamacharan Lahiri Mahasaya was against the institutionalization of Kriyayoga?
Mahamahopadhyaya Yogacharya Dr. Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee founded the Centres with the objective of upholding the ideals and tenets of Yogiraj Sri Shyamacharan Lahiri; the Fountain-Head of Kriyayoga and bringing forth to society the original Kriyayoga as taught by Him. Is it the same sadhana as practised and taught by Lahiri Baba or are there any modifications been made to suit the present generation?
There are no modifications or deviations from the original Kriyayoga as taught by Yogiraj Sri Shyamacharan Lahiri. The Centre is committed to uphold the ideals and tenets of Yogiraj Sri Shyamacharan Lahiri; the Fountain-Head of Kriyayoga and bring forth to society the undeviated, original Kriyayoga as taught by the great Master.
What is Mahamahopadhyaya Yogacharya Dr. Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee’s lineage in Kriyayoga?
Mahamahopadhyaya Yogacharya was first initiated by Sri Annada Charan Shastri who was a disciple of Panchanan Bhattacharya, after his demise he was initiated in the 2nd level Kriya by Sri Sundarlal Lala who was a disciple of Harinarayan Paladhi and after he passed away Mahamahopadhyaya Yogacharya Dr. Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee took initiation into higher Kriya from Sri Satyacharan Lahiri, the Grandson of Yogiraj. Is Mahamahopadhyaya Yogacharya Dr. Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee authorized to initiate aspirants into Kriyayoga?
Yes, Mahamahopadhyaya Yogacharya Dr. Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee is a World Kriyayoga Master and was authorized by Sri Satyacharan Lahiri; the grandson of Yogiraj Sri Shyamacharan Lahiri Mahasaya to impart Kriyayoga initiation. It was Sri Satyacharan Lahiri who conferred the title of “Yogacharya” upon him.

For advanced Kriyayogasadhana is it necessary to renounce the world?
Kriyayogasadhana is best practiced within the ambit of household or Grihasthya. Yogiraj Sri Shyamacharan Lahiri and Mahamahopadhyaya Yogacharya Dr. Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee are complete householders. The Centre upholds this ideal and strongly discourages external renunciation.
What kind of initiation is this? Do you provide any “mantra japa” during initiation?
The technique of Kriyayoga cannot be divulged as per the discipline laid down by Yogiraj Sri Shyamacharan Lahiri. It is the same yogasadhana as mentioned in the Patanjali Yogasutras and the The Bhagavad Gita.
I have already been initiated into Kriyayoga elsewhere. Can I receive initiation into advanced Kriyayoga from your Mission?
This has to be discussed and permission sought from Gurudeva Mahamahopadhyaya Yogacharya Dr. Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee or His Guru-Desgnate.
Can women and children receive initiation in Kriyayoga?
It is the same Prana that inheres in the entire creation and Kriyayoga is the worship of this Prana, hence there is no such discrimination. Infact married couples are encouraged to take initiation together although it is not a mandate. However, children below a certain age are not considered for initiation since a certain level of maturity is expected to practise Kriyayoga which is extremely subtle and esoteric in nature.
How much time does it take to complete this course?
There is no definitive timeline for this. It is completely dependant upon the disciple’s ability to grasp this abstruse science and practice Kriya sincerely abiding by the instructions of the Guru.
